Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do I need a referral from a health care professional?

No. All you need to do is to contact Dr Wood.

2. How many sessions will I need?

This varies greatly from person to person and depends on the nature of the problem and what you would like from the sessions.

3. There are a number of therapeutic approaches listed. Which approach will be used for me?

This depends on the nature of the problem, what you want, and the way we talk during the assessment. After the assessment we will discuss the approach that will be used.

4. When are appointments available?

Appointments are generally available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 09.30 - 17.00.

5. What if I need to reschedule or cancel an appointment?

That's not a problem but 24 hours notice is required if a session needs to be cancelled, so that the appointment can be offered to another client. You can reschedule appointments by contacting Dr Wood. If 24 hours notice is not given then the cancellation incurs a fee of the full session cost.

6. Are the sessions confidential?

The content of the sessions and client information/notes are kept confidential. There may be some circumstances when confidentiality cannot be kept, such as if the client is at risk of harm to themselves or other people. If this were the case, Dr Wood would always aim to discuss this with you beforehand.

7. How do I pay?

Self-funded clients can pay before each session. Payment is via bank transfer or paypal.

8. Can I get sessions through my health insurance?

This will depend on the type of cover you have and whether psychological assessment and therapy are included in your cover. It is best to check with your provider prior to the assessment. Dr Wood is a registered provider with BUPA, AXA PPP and AIVA. Dr Wood also sees clients for RCS In work Support Service - contact them at 01745 336442 and Canopi (https://canopi.nhs.wales)

9. How do I book an appointment?

Appointments can be booked via phone call or text (to 0797 6419 558) or by email (to cathwood@cathywoodpsychology.co.uk) or via the contact form on this website.
